The Maundy Thursday service is one of endings and beginnings. What began on Ash Wednesday is brought to a close here today What begins today does not end until the resurrection of Easter. Congregation members were invited to insert nails into the cross during Maundy Thursday services. At the end of the service, everyone departs in the darkness without benediction.
During Easter services, Congregation members were invited to place flowers in the cross to replace the nails from Maundy Thursday. The flower covered cross was then placed outside in front of the church after services while the children hunted Easter Eggs. A very moving few days for the entire congregation.

Matthew 19:23-24 (KJV)
23 Then said Jesus unto his disciples, Verily I say unto you, That a rich man shall hardly enter into the kingdom of heaven.
24 And again I say unto you, It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God.
Jesus was not talking about a sewing needle in this parable. In ancient times city gates had two large leaves and a smaller door called the “eye of the needle” intended only for the passage of pedestrians. When the large gates were closed, getting a camel through the eye of the needle required the camel to be unloaded and to bend its legs and neck to pass through the smaller door. It was a hard task that often left scratches on the camel and its owner.
Jesus was teaching that it is not impossible for a rich man to get into heaven but whether you are rich or poor, you must unload all your burdens and possession, bend your necks and knees in obedience, kneel before God and acknowledge Him…that He is the only way to salvation And on this journey you will get scratches along the way.
